Launching Ceremony of the 9th Pan-African Congress

The Hotel du 2 Février in Lomé hosted the launching ceremony of the 9th Pan-African Congress on May 22, 2023.

The producer and Master of Ceremony was the media personality, at the heart of the project, Claudy Siar. Ms. Charlotte Guezere, journalist at New World TV, assisted him in the hosting of the ceremony. The event was broadcasted live in more than 30 countries via several TV channels and on social media.

The launching ceremony was enhanced by the presence of the Prime Minister of the Togolese government, Mrs. Victoire Tomegah-Dogbe, the Minister of Foreign Relations of Togo and of the Togolese Abroad, His Excellency Professor Robert Dussey, the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Dr. Naledi Pandor, the Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Congolese Abroad, Jean Claude Gakosso. All the Ministers took the floor and sounded the trumpet of Pan-Africanism.

Two non-state actors took the floor to give their respective understandings of Pan-Africanism : Doudou Diene (International Civil Servant) and Dr. Gnaka Lagoke (Assistant Professor of History and Pan-Africana Studies at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania).

Other dignitaries who attended the ceremony were the representatives of the following agencies: the African Union, the High Level Committee, the Togolese National Assembly and the Togolese traditional chiefdom, the government of the Republic of Togo, and the international organizations accredited in Togo.

Actors from the cultural, scientific and political world (Diasporas and Afro-descendants), opinion leaders, influencers as well as representatives of the African and international press were also among the attendees.
