Congo regional conference declaration

We, the participants of the Central Africa Regional Preparatory Conference, gathered on May 24, 2024, by videoconference, around the theme « Economic Pan-Africanism and African emergence »,

Representing our national Governments, regional and continental bodies,

Emphasizing on the importance of the issues and challenges of economic Pan-Africanism and African emergence,

Recognizing the need to eliminate tariff barriers, promote intra-African trade, diversify the economy in Africa and strengthen regional and continental integration, by accelerating the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA),

Recalling the importance and necessity of the economic development of the African continent supported by Agenda 2063 of the African Union and aiming at a united, prosperous and integrated Africa,

Conscious of the urgent need for better structuring and coordination of programs and projects linked to the economic integration of the African continent to promote their adequate implementation for the benefit of our populations,

Calling on African Governments and Pan-African institutions to take concerted measures to promote integration and economic cooperation between African countries and African regions,

The Preparatory Conference of the Central Africa Region recommends:

  1. The taking by African Governments and Pan-African institutions of concerted measures to promote integration and economic cooperation between African countries and African regions,
  2. The mobilization of African intelligence around the strategic importance of giving new vitality to the Pan-African postulate,
  3. The promotion of a politically united and economically prosperous Africa,
  4. Africans’ consideration of political commitment as a true priesthood, whose public action must have only one goal, to bring prosperity to united peoples everywhere,
  5. Taking charge of the African economy, by accelerating the implementation of the continent’s integrating projects,
  6. The renunciation of prophetic speeches, in favor of the realization and materialization of commitments made by politicians,
  7. The operationalization of the financial institutions of the African Union, namely: the African Central Bank (BCA), the African Monetary Fund (AMF) and the African Investment Bank (BAI), with a view to accelerating the regional integration and socio-economic development of the continent through resource mobilization and financial sector management,
  8. Good governance in the management of public finances,
  9. The renunciation of identity withdrawal and the acceleration of African integration,
  10. Financing integration infrastructure projects, as well as industrial and agricultural investments, to develop intracontinental trade.
